From a Broken One-Page Site to a Fully Managed Clinic Bookings System

Kigali Dermatology Center (KDC) is Rwanda’s leading specialised dermatology clinic, fully registered with the Rwanda Ministry of Health and positioned to become a comprehensive regional reference centre for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders. The clinic is led by Dr. Kayitesi Kayitenkore – a founding member of both the Rwanda Dermatology Society (RDS) and the African Society of Dermatology and Venereology (ASDV), with over 20 years of specialist experience, alongside a team of dedicated specialist doctors.

Afrecce is a web design agency in Nairobi, Kenya, with an established track record in medical and healthcare web design across East Africa was engaged in 2026 to replace an outdated, non-functional one-page website with a full multipage site and integrated appointment booking system. The brief went beyond aesthetics: the clinic had a real operational problem that the new website needed to solve.

The Challenge

KDC’s previous website was a single page – slow to load, unreliable, and not representative of a clinic of its standing. Most critically, the contact form that patients used to request appointments was broken. Enquiries were being lost, and the clinic had no reliable mechanism for patients to communicate their needs or confirm their attendance.

The deeper problem was the booking process itself. Without a structured appointment system, scheduling was managed manually — leaving the clinic vulnerable to double bookings across its team of specialist doctors. Patients were arriving for appointments that had been double-allocated, creating a poor patient experience and placing unnecessary pressure on clinical staff. For a clinic aspiring to be a regional reference centre in dermatology, this was an operational gap that urgently needed to be closed.

Alongside the operational problems, the one-page structure gave the clinic no space to communicate the breadth of its services. Seven specialist departments — each serving distinct patient profiles and conditions — were compressed into a format that could not do them justice, making it difficult for prospective patients to understand what KDC offered and whether it was the right clinic for their needs.

What we did;

01

Web Design & Development

Afrecce designed and built a full multipage website for KDC — clean, modern, and built to reflect the clinical authority of Rwanda’s leading dermatology clinic. As a medical web design agency with deep experience across the East African healthcare sector, Afrecce structured the site to serve both patient-facing and professional audiences: patients seeking diagnosis and treatment, and referring physicians looking for a specialist centre they can trust.

The design is calm and confident, using visual language appropriate for a specialist medical environment. Doctor profiles for Dr. Kayitesi Kayitenkore, Dr. Antoine Burabyo Rudasigwa, and Dr. Frida Bazirisa each have their own dedicated pages, presenting their credentials and areas of specialist focus clearly. The clinic’s registration with the Rwanda Ministry of Health and its international dermatological affiliations are surfaced as key credibility signals throughout the site.

02

Real-Time Appointment Booking System

The centrepiece of this project was the design and implementation of a fully integrated appointment booking system — the direct solution to the clinic’s most pressing operational problem. Replacing the broken contact form with a structured, real-time booking engine transformed how KDC manages its patient schedule entirely.

Patients can now browse available doctors, select their preferred service and time slot, and complete their booking directly through the website. Crucially, the system blocks the selected slot in real time the moment a booking is made — making it impossible for two patients to be assigned the same appointment. The double booking problem that had disrupted clinic operations and patient experience is structurally eliminated.

03

Dedicated Service & Department Architecture

One of the primary deliverables was building out a full service architecture — giving each of KDC’s seven specialist departments its own dedicated page with appropriate depth of content. This transforms the website from a brochure into a genuine patient resource, where individuals can research their condition, understand what KDC offers for it, and arrive at their first consultation already informed.
