Buildafrique™ Group is one of East Africa’s most established end-to-end project development and investment groups, with over 14 years in business, 400+ completed projects and an operational footprint spanning Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania. The Group comprises four specialized subsidiaries: Buildafrique Capital & Management, Buildafrique Consulting (Quantity Surveying), Buildafrique Investments & Property and Buildafrique Landuse & Environment – serving investors, developers and project stakeholders across the region.

Afrecce was engaged in 2024 to design and build a modern, fully responsive website to replace an outdated, clunky and non-responsive site that no longer reflected the scale, credibility or regional ambitions of the Group.

The Challenge

Buildafrique™ Group is a sophisticated, multi-entity organisation operating across five solution categories, ten industry sectors and four East African countries. Their previous website was old, poorly structured and non-responsive; meaning it broke on mobile devices at a time when the majority of their audience browses on phones. It failed to communicate the breadth and depth of the Group’s capabilities and it presented a credibility gap for an organisation seeking to attract serious regional investors, developers and institutional clients.

The redesign challenge was significant: the new website needed to organise an exceptionally large volume of content: multiple subsidiaries, solution areas, industry pages, a project portfolio, investment offerings, property listings, a publications library, weekly and monthly market reports, and team profiles into a coherent, navigable experience without overwhelming the visitor. It also needed to function independently across four country markets, each with its own audience and context.

Corporate Web Design - Built for Authority & Scale

Afrecce designed a new website that matches the authority and scale of a 14-year-old, 400-project group operating across East Africa. The design is clean, professional and confident – built to instil trust in high-value audiences including institutional investors, real estate developers and government stakeholders. As a web design agency in Nairobi with experience across complex corporate clients, Afrecce structured the visual language to communicate seriousness and credibility at first glance.

The site is fully responsive across all screen sizes — a fundamental requirement that the previous website failed to meet. Every page, from the homepage through to deep solution and industry pages, is optimised for mobile, tablet, and desktop viewing.

Information Architecture - Taming Complexity

The most demanding element of this project was the information architecture. Buildafrique™ Group’s content spans an exceptionally wide surface area and the primary design challenge was making that breadth feel navigable rather than overwhelming. Afrecce restructured the entire site hierarchy to guide different audience types: investors, developers and project partners – efficiently toward the information most relevant to them.

  • 5 core solution categories, each with multiple service pages.
  • 10 industry sector pages: Construction, Housing, Residential & Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare, Hospitality, Education, Industrial, Energy, Infrastructure.

Multi-Country Website Structure

The website was built to serve Buildafrique™’s four East African markets independently. Separate country-specific site versions for Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania allow each market’s audience to access contextually relevant content – a structural requirement that adds significant complexity to both the design and development process and one that reflects Afrecce’s capability as a web development agency in Kenya working at a regional scale.

Audience-Driven User Experience

Buildafrique™ Group serves two distinct primary audiences with very different goals: investors seeking opportunities, and project stakeholders seeking development consultancy. The site design accounts for both, with prominent calls-to-action for investor registration and project funding submission surfaced at multiple points throughout the experience, ensuring high-value conversion opportunities are never more than a click away regardless of where a visitor enters the site.

Responsive & Mobile-First Build

One of the most critical requirements of the brief was full mobile responsiveness, something the previous website completely lacked. The new Buildafrique™ website is built mobile-first throughout, ensuring that investors, developers, and stakeholders browsing on smartphones across East Africa experience the same quality and authority as those on desktop – a non-negotiable baseline for any professional corporate website design in Kenya today.
